Dr. Tere Hernandez

Dr. Tere Hernandez began her education in her native Puerto Rico where her passion for animal care was born at age 14 as a volunteer assistant in a clinic in San Juan.  Following formal university training in Puerto Rico, she enrolled at Iowa State in 1998 to complete her ungraduate studies.  In 2004, Tere Hernandez earned her VMD from Kansas State.

After graduation, Tere practiced in Saylorsburg, PA before taking an opportunity in Dublin, Virginia, where she continued to hone her skills for the next three and a half years.

From Tere’s perspective, veterinary medicine is as much a people profession as it is an animal profession. The ability to understand and empathize with human owners, she believes, is what separates good vets from great ones—and average veterinary hospitals from outstanding facilities like Macungie Animal Hospital.

Honesty and integrity are essential traits to Tere.  Never one to compromise ethics, she prides herself on doing only what is absolutely necessary for her patients. She knew the first time she walked into Macungie Animal Hospital that it was the ideal opportunity for her. She loved how they blended a state-of-the-art facility with the welcoming, compassionate environment she sought.

Tere and her partner Nancy live in the Lehigh Valley with their daughter, Natalie Andrea; their heeler mix with an identity crisis, Dana (as in Dana Scully); and their golden retriever, Samantha Fox.
